We As One proudly participated as a partner in the Erasmus+ "Cultural Compass: Navigating Diversity Through Communication" Mobility of Youth Workers project (Project No: 2024-1-ES02-KA153-YOU-000215870), coordinated by KUFF Refugees and Minorities Solidarity Association and implemented in Madrid/Alcobendas, Spain, between 29 October and 5 November 2024. The mobility brought together youth workers from Spain, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, and Romania to strengthen intercultural communication, promote non-formal learning, and develop practical methods that encourage cultural awareness, social inclusion, and active community engagement.

Throughout the programme, participants explored the foundations of culture by examining its core components, including values, symbols, rituals, traditions, and social norms. Through expert presentations, panel discussions, collaborative learning, and interactive educational games, they analysed how cultural identities influence communication and relationships in multicultural environments. These activities strengthened participants' analytical thinking, research, presentation, and teamwork skills while encouraging them to appreciate cultural diversity beyond visible traditions.

The mobility also focused on developing practical communication competences through creative and experiential learning. Workshops on intercultural communication explored topics such as behavioural flexibility, respect, identity, and effective interaction, while discussions on stereotypes and cultural assumptions encouraged participants to challenge prejudice and reflect critically on their own perspectives. Surveys, group dialogues, and panel activities created a safe space for self-evaluation, helping participants develop greater empathy, intercultural sensitivity, and inclusive attitudes that can be applied in their everyday youth work.

A strong emphasis was placed on creativity and dissemination as essential elements of Erasmus+ projects. Participants designed banners, brochures, bracelets, and other promotional materials before engaging directly with the local community through street interviews and social experiments in Madrid. These activities increased the visibility of the project while allowing participants to experience how dialogue, active listening, body language, and cooperation can overcome language barriers and strengthen intercultural understanding. Interactive energizers and collaborative exercises further reinforced trust, motivation, and group cohesion throughout the mobility.

Continuous reflection and cultural exchange remained central to the learning process. Evaluation sessions encouraged participants to assess their learning outcomes, share constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for future improvement. The programme concluded with inspiring cultural presentations that showcased traditions, music, cuisine, language, history, and everyday life from the partner countries, strengthening mutual respect and appreciation for Europe's cultural diversity. As a proud partner of this Erasmus+ initiative, We As One returned with innovative educational approaches, stronger international partnerships, and valuable tools that will continue to support inclusive youth work and intercultural dialogue within local communities.
